Baptism

Holy Baptism is the basis of the whole Christian life, the gateway to life in the Spirit, and the door which gives access to the other sacraments - CCC 1213 

Through Baptism we are:

- freed from sin and reborn as adopted sons and daughters of God

- welcomed into the Body of Christ as members of His Church

- freed from the power of darkness to walk in the light as children of God

- made sharers in the mission of the Church

Confirmation

Those who approach the sacrament of Penance obtain pardon from God's mercy for the offense committed against him, and are, at the same time, reconciled with the Church which they have wounded by their sins - CCC 1422

 Those approaching Reconciliation:

- are called to conversion and the first step back toward the Father from whom they strayed

- acknowledge and praise the mercy of the Father

- are able to respond to the call to "love thy neighbor" living in the love of God

Eucharist

The holy Eucharist completes Christian initiation. Those who have been raised to the dignity of the royal priesthood by Baptism and configured more deeply to Christ by Confirmation participate with the whole community in the Lord's own sacrifice by means of the Eucharist. - CCC 1322

 The Eucharist:

- is the "Source and Summit" of Christian life

- is the culmination of God's action sanctifying the world in Christ and of the worship men offer to Christ and through him to the Father in the Holy Spirit

- unites us with the heavenly liturgy in anticipation of eternal life

Formation Classes

The richness of the Catholic faith requires study to begin to understand the faith. Through weekly classes those seeking to join the Church will study the faith together, growing in community as they grow in faith. When the pastor and director of faith formation feel those seeking full communion with the Church are ready, the next steps in the process will be taken.

Choosing a Sponsor

Those in RCIA select a sponsor to walk with them through the process of becoming Catholic and support them after they are received into the Church. Baptized and unbaptized adults choose a sponsor who will journey with the through the receiving the Sacraments and into their new lives as full members of the Catholic Church. 

The Scrutinies

The steps of OCIA include a number of liturgical moments, during which those seeking to become Catholic are presented to the community, accepted as “catechumens,” and called to “election.” These scrutinies are the final steps in the process before the Easter Vigil when those in RCIA are received fully into the Church.

Our oCIA team would like to invite you to join us Sunday mornings, starting at 9:30 a.m. The OCIA class is exclusively for those interested in joining the Catholic Faith.
