Good Shepherd's #1 must attend event!
The Good Shepherd Fish Fry was started during Lent 1998. Rev. Marcian O'Meara had a goal to bring the community of Good Shepherd and the whole neighborhood together during Lent. Fr. O’Meara joined forces with a parishioner who grew up attending Lenten Fish Fries in small Midwestern communities. Together, it was also their goal that any proceeds generated from the dinners would be donated back to the community in an effort to "pay it forward."
The event first drew between 50-65 people per week. Since 2000, with the help of a dedicated volunteer coordinator and a "motley crew" of approximately 30 core volunteers, the event has grown beyond all expectations. In addition to the volunteers who literally work every Friday of Lent from morning until night, various groups in the parish/school community also volunteer in the dining area and receive the net proceeds, which are then divided equally between them and donated to a charity(s) of their choice.

The Fish Fry will take place on February 27th, March 6th, March 13th, and March 27th and we want YOU to join us in volunteering! You’re more than welcome to sign up for one or multiple dates.
We’re so excited for our Fish Fry and would love for you to be part of the fun!
Please sign up for one of our volunteer shifts that begin:
🐟 Prep Crew – 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM
🐟 4:15 PM – 6:30 PM
🐟 6:30 PM – 8:30 PM
🧽 Clean-Up Crew – 8:30 PM to 10:00 PM
We especially need help with our clean-up crew to make the night run smoothly. Thank you for considering serving in this important role!
If you're helping in the kitchen, please bring an apron. The Fish Fry can get a little messy, so be sure to wear clothes you don’t mind getting dirty and a good pair of tennis shoes.
Good Shepherd students: we are so grateful for your willingness to help! Please note that students should not sign up for Kitchen or Beverage roles.
Thank you for helping make this a wonderful evening for our community!
